As India is still a third world country, the doctor to patient ratio is atrocious, with only accounting to 1:2000. This has resulted in the shortage of medical help to the patients within the country and that is why epidemics are breaking out in certain zones every year. This rising risk factor has become a matter of concern to the health department and that is why they have proposed a plan to increase the ratio up to 1:1000 by 2021. This will definitely give a wonderful opportunity to all the young hearts who want to help Indians live a better and healthy life. With this in mind, the seven topmost medical institutions in India have decided to admit more of the aspiring medical minds and guide them in this field so that they can take the Indian medical world to a new level.

The process of the AIIMS MBBS counselling for 2018:
The examinees who will score more than the cut off marks in the AIIMS entrance examination will be eligible for entering the counselling process. There will be three rounds of the counselling after which the open round will be held. No matter if, a candidate has participated in the first three rounds of the counselling, he/she will definitely have to attend the last one. Everything will be decided automatically by the system on that day and students will have no choice other than to accept the decision. So let’s see how exactly this counselling process works!

Step 1: registration
Each new candidate will have to register himself or herself as it is the gateway to the main counselling sessions. The entire registration process will be conducted online and students can visit the registration site from their initial ‘MY PAGE’ account, created at the time of the AIIMS application 2018. You will have to provide your AIIMS registration number and also you will be asked to set up a new password.

Step 2: choice preferences
This process will be conducted immediately after the system approves of the student’s registration. He/she will be allowed to make a preferential list regarding the AIIMS institutes and edit them as per their desire. Once the choices will be locked in, the admission process will be done accordingly and no further choices will be allowed to make.

Step 3: mock seat allotment
Once the list will be submitted, the system will compare your marks and your preference list. Then, you will be allotted a seat in a particular institute accordingly. Now you must keep this in mind that the entire seat allotting is tentative.

Step 4: final submission of the choice list
This portal will be open for only a few days as the students will be given a chance to re-edit their previously locked choice after the mock seat allotment.

Step 5: final seat allotment
The last step of the counselling will be the declaration of the seat allotment list for every participating student. The choice will be made based on the AIIMS MBBS merit rank 2018.

At the end of the open round counselling, the students will have the name of the institution in their hands and for the further admission process, they will have to visit the institution in person.
