JEE MAINS has been conducted this year in 2018 and now it is the time for the different states to start their admission counselling procedures as soon as possible. JEE MAIN 2018 rank will help the students in two ways- first of qualifying for the JEE ADVANCE examination to get an entry to one of the IITs and secondly, the rank will allow them to take an admission in any engineering college within their state itself. After all, JEE MAINS is said to the hub of providing new opportunities to the young and aspiring minds of the country who will one day introduce a milestone in the global technology arena in future. We all know that JEE MAINS is considered to be the toughest examinations of all the entrance exams being held in the country. That is why when it comes to the question of offering seats to the students based on the rank earned by them in that particular entrance exams, then one can certainly except the procedure is not going to be quite easy.
JAC or Joint Admission Committee in Chandigarh was put into effect for the sole purpose of admitting deserving students to the colleges for pursuing their future careers in the technical and administration fields. However, they have also decided to proceed with the admission procedure based on the rank earned in JEE MAINs. As a result, the rules stand as it was in 2018 and with the date of the JEE MAINS result declaration nearing, the Committee has already started making preparations for the upcoming counselling process of 2018.
JAC will be conducting four different rounds for the entire counselling ceremony, the last one of which is open to all the registered candidates. Now here comes the catch, students who are willing to participate in this counselling method need to follow certain steps so that they can finally get a seat in any of the colleges within the state according to their JEE ranks. The steps that need to be followed by every candidate are described below. Read them carefully so as to avoid the skipping of any important information regarding the counselling procedure.
Step 1: online registration
Each student will have to register his or her name online on the official website of the JAC. For the online registration procedure, they will need to enter their JEE MAINS roll number and password after which they will be shown a pre-filled documentation. Only what is that to be done is the final filling up on the entire registration form and submit to the Committee.
Step 2: payment of the registration fee
Once the submission of the registration form is complete, the student will have to pay the registration fee through internet banking or e-challan.
• The fees for general category students is Rupees 2100/-
• The fees for the other backward and reserved categories is Rs. 1050/-
Step 3- verification of the documentation
This process will be conducted at the time of the counselling rounds in the mentioned centres. Document verification will include the scrutiny of mark sheets, caste certificate if any, JEE MAINS rank sheet, admit cards, registration form of JAC print out and other various listed documents. So, the candidate will have to carry all the documents to avoid any further complication.
Step 4: online filling of choices
The online choice filling is the step where the candidates will be required to fill up the names of their preferred institutes along with their preferred branch. One thing must be kept in mind that the list should be made in such a way that the most preferred college with branch sits at the top and there is a decrease in the preference for the seats.
Step 5: mock counselling
Mock counselling will give the candidates an idea of what college they can get according to their rank and their preferential choice list. This is itself done by the system, so there is no third party interference.
Step 6: choice locking
Once the choices are made and the candidates are sure of the uploaded list, he/ she can lock the choices and submit it to the system. Once the choices are pocked, it cannot be changed and then the counselling process will be done according to the list.
Each candidate will be allotted a seat in the college under the JAC according to their ranks. They are free to withdraw from one round of counselling if they are not satisfied with the result and can wait for the next round. However, in the final round or the spot round, no matter what institute has been allotted, the candidate will have to go for that.
