What is NEET?

Since 2016, NEET has replaced AIPMT and since then this gas become the governing body along with Central Board of Secondary Education. The subjects that are included in the competitive exams are physics, biology and chemistry.

  • Biology consists of 100 marks questions.
  • Physics and chemistry have 5o marks each making a paper of total 100 marks.

Importance of NEET result
Like any other competitive entrance examination, NEET too declare its results in the form of merit list. Merit list is a sorted list of students according to their marks scored in the examination. Each student will be assigned a rank according to the marks scored in the exam. Once they will have a rank, counselling will be done accordingly and on top of all, the rank will decide the stream and the college. So, yes the result is very important in order to have admission in a splendid college.

Norms of the NEET counselling
Each year, NEET along with Directorate General of Health Sciences, select students according two quotas. Each quota has it’s own rules of selection and the number of vacant seats. Also, the participating institutions varies in both the quotas.

  • The All India Quota or AIQ accounts for 15% of the total number of seats. This counselling is conducted first where the students are selected from. All over India. This is generally done online in order to avoid any complications.
  • The second quota norm is that of the state quota accounting for 85% of the total number of seats. The counselling under this is conducted after the AIQ. This is done once the council sends the state based merit list to each state.

  • The conducting body of the Karnataka NEET counselling for the academic year of 2018 is Karnataka Examination Authority(KEA).
  • The section will be done entirely on basis of the merit list handed over to the officials of KEA by Indian Medical Council. This merit list will have the names of the students belonging to the students of Karnataka only. The list will be drawn on the ranks obtained in the examination after the AIQ will be conducted.
    • The counselling process will be conducted online, starting from 25th June.
    • Each candidate will have to register their names once the portal will be available. After registering they will have to proceed further with the choice filling and locking part.
    • This part is quite important since the college will be selected from amongst the list provided by the students itself. As a result, while filling up be careful enough about your dream institutions and recheck before submitting for locking options.
    • Once the options will be locked, no one can reset them as the portal will automatically close.
    • A mock round of counselling will be conducted to let candidates know about the possible college they can have. This mock result changes usually at the time of declaration of the final round’s result.
    • The candidates will have to accept the result declared and a provisional letter will be handed over to them. This certificate is for admission purposes.
