Kerala Law Entrance Exam (KLEE) 2021

Kerala Law Entrance Exam 2021 is a state Level Examination which is conducted every year by the Commissioner of Entrance Examination (CEE). Kerala Law Entrance Exam 2021 is basically organized for admissions to various Law programs such as five-year integrated LLB course (BA LLB, BCom LLB, BSc LLB and BBA LLB), three-year LLB course and LLM course.

  1. Integrated LL.B.:

  • BA LLB:This program is basically an amalgamation of Bachelor of Arts & Bachelor of Laws. The curriculum designed so effectively by the colleges that they are based on new developments that have been brought up due to Liberalization and Globalization. It integrates modern day Arts with Law by framing the syllabus into three trimesters in a year. Students are imparted with the basic knowledge of fundamentals of four core subjects and at least two skill papers including Computer, English, Legal Writing, and Accountancy.

Specializations are offered in four areas of law in the Final Year, namely:

  • Business Law & IPR,
  • Criminal & HR,
  • Public Law and Policy, and
  • International Dimensions of Law

 

  • BBA LLB:Several law schools in Keralaoffers a five-year integrated dual-degree (Bachelor of Business administration and Bachelor of Law) law program that amalgamates Law subjects with that of Business administration. The successful completion of this course will earn the student a BBA. LL.B. degree.

 

BBA. LL.B course pedagogy is supplemented by a variety of skills, such as skills in advocacy, legal writing, research, and management of time which imparted by taking special sessions along with the mandatory curriculum. The course is specifically designed and revamped periodically, keeping in mind the latest development in the field of law. It is oriented towards the industry and is aided by an advisory board comprised of academicians, philanthropists and some of the leading lights in the legal fraternity.

  • BCom LLB: BCom LLB is a professional law programme which is offered by various Law schools in Kerala. Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Legislative Law (BCom LLB) are amalgamated to imbibe in the minds of future legal professionals, both commerce and law domains. Some Commerce subjects which are part of the curriculum are Business Statistics, Business Communication, Auditing, Economics, etc. The law subjects taught to the students include Law of Contract, Consumer Protection Law, Constitutional Law, Law of Crimes, Legal Language, Interpretation of Statutes, Constitutional Law and the likes.
  • BSc LLB:The Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Legislative Law (BSc LLB) is an amalgamated law course that candidates can pursue right after their Class 12. BSc LLB course is of five years duration. As part of a BSc LLB course, future legal professionals are taught Science subjects such as Chemistry, Electronic Devices, Biotechnology etc., and simultaneously they are taught law subjects like Civil Law, Labor Law, Corporate Law, Tax Law, Criminal Law, Administrative Law, Patent Law etc. The pedagogy is so evolved that the subjects are totally imbibed in the minds of executives.
  1. LL.B.:

Duration = Three years

An LL.B./Bachelor of Laws degree from a college in Keralais a professional law degree provided after completing graduation.There are a plethora of career prospects for law graduates after completing the course. They are not restricted to practice as an advocate in court or corporate firms. Other non-conventional law career comprises – working with NGOs, teaching in colleges, working as a reporter for newspapers and television channels.

Duration = One year

The abbreviation LL.M. comes from a Latin term ‘Legum Magister’ which literally stands for the Master of Laws. The LL.M. from any esteemed educational institute of Keralais a globally renowned postgraduate law degree. The aspiring Law professionals pursue the LL.M. to gain expertise in a specialized field of law (for example in the area of corporate law or constitutional law, tax law or international law) to be qualified enough to work in a multinational legal environment as demanded by the law firms nowadays.

Specializations, allocation of which on the basis of merit by the university, are offered in:

  • Business Law,
  • Constitutional and Administrative Law,

  • Criminal Law.

Eligibility for Kerala Law Entrance Exam 2021:

For five-year integrated law courses:

  • Candidates should have passed or appearing in Class 12th or equivalent examination from a recognized board with minimum qualifying marks as under: General – 45% marks, Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) category – 42% marks and SC/ ST category – 40% marks
  • They must have completed 17 years of age as on December 31 of the admission year.

For Three-year law course:

  • Candidates should have completed their graduation in any discipline from the University (for SEBC, the qualifying marks are 42% and for SC/ ST category candidates, the qualifying marks are 40%).
  • No upper or lower age limit criteria for admissions to this course.

For one-year/ two-year LLM course:

  • Candidates should have studied a bachelor degree in Law i.e. five-year integrated LLB or three-year LLB course with minimum 50% marks in the qualifying examination.

  • Total marks: 600
  • Duration of exam: 2 hours
  • Marking scheme: 3 marks to be allotted for correct answer,1 mark to be deducted for every incorrect answer, 0 mark to be given if a question is left unanswered

Aptitude for legal studies – 70

Arithmetic and mental ability – 25

General English – 60

General Knowledge – 45

3-year Exam Pattern:

  • Mode of exam: CBT (Computer-based Test)

  • Duration of exam: 2 hours
  • Marking scheme: 3 marks to be allotted for correct answer,1 mark to be deducted for every incorrect answer, 0mark to be given if a question is left unanswered
