I’m sure all of us have seen make-over and transformation videos where mediocre and average appearing people looked greatly changed and very different from their previous version after a little change in dress and make-up. A little alteration in dressing can make a lot of difference as well as the right impression. During an MBA GD (Group Discussion) and PI ( Personal Interview), the first thing that will be noticed about you is how you dressed yourself up and like they say- the First impression is the last impression. You may not know this but your appearance and attire have the ability to make you look more confident. Occasion appropriate clothing elevates your self-respect and self-esteem in the eyes of others too.
Let’s walk you through appropriate dressing for an MBA GD/PI:-
MALE ATTIRES
Be sure to wear precise formal to an MBA GD/PI. However, keep it simple and do not go overboard. An ironed crisp shirt with trousers and a necktie is enough. Never wear t-shirts combined with jeans or shirt on a t-shirt for that matter. It reflects poorly on your taste and seriousness and the concerned authority may feel you’re not serious enough.
You may think loud colors make you stand out from the rest, yes it does, but not in a good way, especially in a formal interview and discussion. Wear light colors matched with deep. If you wear a light colored shirt, go for deep color trousers and vice-versa. If you wear blazers, make it deeper than your shirt and closer in color to your trouser. Wear Black or brown shoes.
Belts and watches consist of your accessories. Black is a very sophisticated go for a black watch preferably. Match belt color with your shoes. You can tuck in pen in your chest pocket but make sure the pen is a decent looking one.
Always remember, the brand and cost of your clothes doesn’t matter. The neatness does. So be neat and clean with tidy hair, shine your shoes, iron your clothes and be confident
FEMALE ATTIRES
If you want to wear Indian then go for a simple crisp cotton saree or a well-ironed salwar suit. You can also wear a Kurti on leggings.
However, if you want to wear western then go for formal trousers with a comfortable fitting shirt on top. You can also wear a skirt if you want, preferably knee-length.
Women have more liberty with choice of colors. Wear dark blazers/trousers with light color shirts.
Keep it minimal. Lose the piercings on your face and avoid flashy jewellery. Keep your nails groomed and of natural color. For footwear high heels look best but if you’re uncomfortable in them to wear something that you carry best. Avoid shoes which make a noise when you walk.
