As per the Lucknow wide Government order no. 136/सोलह-1-2020-14(54)/2012 dated 15-01-2020, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University in Uttar Pradesh has been assigned with the task of undertaking the entrance examination for degree level engineering institutions and other professional colleges. An arrangement has been made by the Technical Education Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh by virtue of which the Vice-Chancellor of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University can preside over and supervise the 2020 Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination, commonly referred to as UPSEE 2020. For the purpose of conducting and controlling the state entrance examination, a body boasting several eminent educators and examiners has been constructed and integrated into the process of the planning and the implementation of the UPSEE 2020 examination. This examination committee is known as the Central Admission Board (CAB), and the Vice-Chancellor of the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow will act as the Chairman of the board and will exercise absolute powers over the recruitment of its members and the overall decisions reached by the board members. The Central Admission Board has total jurisdiction over UPSEE counseling 2020, conduction of UPSEE 2020 examination, UPSEE seat allotmentUPSEE admission 2020 and the modalities pertaining to the same. The CAB is also authorized to make all the decisions regarding the colleges and educational institutes affiliated with AKTU, Lucknow. Eligibility criteria for UPSEE 2020 counseling:

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University has established a set of conditions and criteria for a candidate to be eligible to sit for the UPSEE 2020 examination. If an UPSEE aspirant does not meet the UPSEE counseling registration criteria, they will not be able to register for UPSEE 2020 counseling.

The applicant needs to have passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with any one subject among Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Technical Vocational subject, Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics Practices, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics and Business Studies.


The candidate needs to have secured at least 45 % marks in the above subjects taken together. This cut-off percentage is 40% for reserved quota holders.

B Tech (lateral entry)

4 years

The candidate must hold a B Sc degree or a Diploma.


The candidate needs to have passed Diploma examination in the field of Engineering and Technology and needs to have secured at least 45% marks in order to be eligible to apply for the vacancies in the first year, in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted. The cut-off percentage for people that hold reserved quotas is 40 %.

B. Pharmacy (Lateral Entry)

The applicant needs to have passed a BCA or a Bachelor’s degree in the field of Computer Science Engineering or an equivalent degree in some other field.


Alternatively, the applicant needs to have achieved a Bachelor’s degree in programs like B. Sc, B. Com or B. A. They need to have studied the subject Mathematics mandatorily at the 10+2 level or at the graduation level, along with additional bridge courses as per the norms of the university they had previously studied under.


They are also required to secure at least 50 % marks in the qualifying examination. The concerned cut-off percentage for candidates applying for reserved quotas is 45%.

The student needs to have passed intermediate or hold some equivalent degree.


There used to be another category for MCA lateral entry applicants. However, since this program was dropped from APH 2020-2021, it was also scrapped from UPSEE 2020.

UPSEE Counseling Registration 2020 procedure:

1. The applicant may fill application structure online through site


2. This examination is open just to the candidates who have qualified through the passing assessment subject to the qualification conditions given right now. 


3. The relevant documents supporting the qualifications and achievements claimed the online application structure through the site can be produced from 27th January 2020 1400 hrs to fifteenth March 2020 2359 hrs.

9. UPSEE Counseling Fees 2020 :

The UPSEE Counseling 2020 fee structure will follow the paradigm set by the Central Admission Board of the AKTU University, Lucknow: 

(a) For General, OBC or Transgender candidates - Rs. 1300/- 

(b) For SC, ST, Female, or Physically handicapped candidates - Rs.650/- 


Each candidate can appear for only ONE paper in the UPSEE examination 2020 and not more. The candidate will be asked to opt for any one subject of their choice that they will write their paper for, based on their personal qualifications and educational eligibility. The candidates may refer to the official website for UPSEE 2020,, for further information pertaining to their eligibility to sit for any specific paper. In case a candidate who has already applied to appear for one particular paper in the upcoming UPSEE 2020 wants to revise their choice and select some other paper to appear for, they need to head over to the online portal and make the desired change before April 3, 2020. After that date, everyone’s choices provided on the online portal will be locked and it will not be possible to change the appearing paper of UPSEE 2020.


 1. What's the counseling procedure of UPSEE?


Answer: The registration procedure for every round of the UPSEE counseling 2020 will be made public by the AKTU authorities. The candidate will have to complete the process of UPSEE choice filling before the initiation of the counseling. The candidate will also have to produce all the UPSEE counseling documents required 2020.


 2. How do we withdraw from the UPSEE counseling?


Answer: Any candidate that wishes to cancel their registration for UPSEE counseling 2020 can withdraw their application during any round of UPSEE counseling 2020. In order to withdraw their application, they will have to head over to the online portal for UPSEE counseling 2020 registration and click on the WITHDRAW button. Once the application is withdrawn, the candidate will be liable to a UPSEE counseling fee refund. They will receive a refund in the same bank account that they used for payment during registration. 


 3. Up to which rank do they call in the first round of UPSEE counseling?


Answer: There are more than 261 government and private institutes affiliated with UPSEE and the AKTU, and each institute and each branch has its own separate UPSEE cutoff rank.


 4. How can I correct my category in UPSEE at the time of counseling?


The submitted UPSEE 2020 application can be revised and corrected in the online UPSEE portal before the date of the examination. 


 5. What will happen if I don't get a seat in the 1st round of UPSEE counseling? Will I be eligible for the 2nd round of counseling?


The first two rounds of UPSEE counseling are catered solely towards candidates belonging to the General category. If you applied for a seat under the General category and did not make the cut during the first round of UPSEE counseling, you can always apply for the UPSEE second round counseling. 


 6. Is it possible to appear in counseling without qualifying the UPSEE 2020?


No, it is mandatory for every candidate to sit for and qualify the UPSEE examination 2020 in order to appear for UPSEE 2020 counseling. The candidates are also bound to produce the results and ranks that they secured in the qualifying examination when they apply for counseling. If under any circumstances the results of the qualifying assessment were awaited by the examination committee, the presiding board at the AKTU has to be intimated regarding the situation.





 7. Which rank is considered in UPSEE/UPTU counseling?


Every rank secured in the qualifying UPSEE 2020 examination is eligible for UPSE 2020 counseling and UPTU 2020 counseling. If a candidate belongs to any reserved category then they will be eligible to apply for seats reserved for that particular category based on their UPSEE 2020 rank. However, if a candidate is applying for the tuition fee waiver program then only their general ranks will be taken into account. The first two rounds of counseling are done based solely on the ranks of candidates belonging to the general category, the UPSEE 3rd round counseling caters towards OBC ranks and the 4th round of counseling is reserved for candidates belonging to SC and ST categories.


 8. What are the documents required for UPSEE counseling?


The following documents and certificates need to be produced during UPSEE counseling 2020:


  • Class 10th Mark Sheet and Passing Certificate
  • Class 12th Mark Sheet and Passing Certificate
  • Certification of category
  • Certification of sub-category
  • UPSEE 2020 Admit Card
  • UPSEE 2020 Rank Card
  • Certification and documents supporting claimed residential address
  • Certification and documents supporting claimed permanent address along with confirmation provided by parent or guardian(not necessary unless the candidate sits for the qualifying assessment outside of Uttar Pradesh)
  • Character Certificate provided by previous educational institute
  • Medical Certificate provided by a legitimate medical practitioner shedding light on the presence or absence of any chronic health issues 



 9. What do I have to do after the 3rd round of counseling of the UPSEE?


After UPSEE 3rd round counseling if a candidate has either still not secured a satisfactory seat in the institute or branch of their choice or still not made the cut-off rank, they are advised to proceed to the 4th round of counseling if and only if they belong to a reserved category ST or SC.


 10. Is there any benefit in the UPSEE 4th round of counseling?


The 4th round of UPSEE counseling is reserved only for the candidates belonging to SC and ST categories, and the counseling is done based on the ranks of all the candidates belonging to these reserved categories taken together. It is helpful for the candidates that hail from underprivileged castes or tribes, but the candidates applying for the 3rd or 4th round of UPSEE counseling 2020 will not be eligible to apply for the tuition fee waiver program.
