Government College of Pharmacy, Aurangabad has been started in 1996 with the efforts of Honorable Late Shri. Govindbhaiji Shroff as a part of his social obligation to which Marathwada region was awaiting. Initially, it has been started as one of the Departments of Government College of Engineering. Subsequently, in 1999, it has acquired the status of full-fledged Government College.

Now the college is in its state-of-art building of around 8000 sq. ft. The institute in its short span has established credibility to impart quality education to masses.

In fact, Government College of Pharmacy has an affiliation with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad and approved by AICTE and Government of Maharashtra.

Also, Government College of Pharmacy is conducting four years B.Pharm. course with an annual intake of 60 students, two-year M.Pharm (Pharmaceutics) with an annual intake of 18 students and 08 students and 6 years integrated course.

However, Government College of Pharmacy also has approval from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad for doctoral studies.

In fact, Government College of Pharmacy has 12 qualified faculty members including 4 Ph.D.

Apart from undergraduate teaching, the faculty members also involve themselves in research work. Further, they also demonstrate their capabilities by publishing their research work and supporting nearby industries.

At present college, the library has approximately 6500 text and reference books, worth more than Rs. 60 Lakhs, covering a wide area of knowledge. Eight international and 22 National and 7 International Journals having subscription presently as hard copy or Internet editions.


College has 12 well-equipped laboratories to cater to the need of undergraduate graduate medical students and 6 laboratories equipped with modern instruments and equipment to cater the need of Postgraduate and research students.

Laboratory is equipped with advanced equipments including Freeze dryer, Spray Dryer, BOD incubators, Fluidized bed processor, Deep freezers, Refrigerated centrifuge, Kelvaka Multipurpose pilot equipment, Colloidal mill, Extruder, spiralizer, Rotary Tablet machine, Double stage tablet machine, Ball mill, Six baskets Dissolution tester, Pouch filling machine, FBD, Multimill, Oscillating granulator, Tray Dryer, Rapid mixer granulator, Stability chambers, Friability tester, Disintegration Tester, Coating machine and facilities for Tablet, Capsule, Ointment, liquid manufacturing.
